Gernot Rohr explains why Ajiboye was ignored for Poland, Serbia friendlies

Rohr excluded Ajiboye from the , despite his impressive performance for the Super Eagles at the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

After njury to Ajiboye put in a good performance against Sudan as Nigeria progressed to the final of the tournament.

The coach defended his decision by stating clearly that Ezenwa is first choice to Ajiboye.

He said, “They already had their chances, remember that we invited Dele [Ajiboye]. Dele is no. 2 in CHAN team and it’d be surprising that he is no. 1 and Ezenwa no. 2 in the Super Eagles,”

Gernot Rohr who was the CHAN to keep an eye on the homebased Eagles and was pleased with Ezenwa's performance at the tournament.

The trio of Daniel Akpeyi, Ezenwa and 18-year-old were selected and Rohr explained his decision to drop Dele Alampasu was due to game time.

“We must be logical in our choices and Dele Alampasu, unfortunately, is never playing,”

“Uzoho made his debut for Nigeria against Argentina and did very well. He plays for the second team of La Coruna; we could see him,”  Rohr said.

Nigeria take on Poland on Friday, March 23 before they face Serbia on Tuesday, March 27.
