Steve Stricker, Bo Van Pelt shine again

The duo, who shot a record 25 under to win the title last year, sit atop the leaderboard once more at the Rhode Island Country Club.

The Americans managed a nine-under 62 to be tied for the lead with Peter Jacobsen and Jimmy Walker.

Stricker and Van Pelt were four under through nine before a strong finish, while Jacobsen and Walker set up their round with a good start.

Bill Haas and tournament co-host Billy Andrade are just a shot back in a tie for third, ahead of the teams of Russell Henley and Harris English, as well as Hunter Mahan and Jason Dufner.
