MFM striker on verge of joining Danish side, FC Copenhagen

Odey has been a revelation this season, with 14 goals which have helped MFM FC to second place half way in this NPFL season.

Scottish giants Celtic were also keen to take the Nigerian striker on trials before he travelled to Denmark.

Meanwhile, MFM FC coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has revealed that neither he nor the club gave the striker permission to travel to Denmark.

"I don’t know about his (Stephen Odey) whereabouts, I didn't permit him, the management didn't permit him," Ilechukwu told ’s Sports Café on Tuesday, May 2.

Odey's profile has risen this season following his hot scoring streak which has seen calls for the striker to be handed a Super Eagles call-up.

Many criticised Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr when he failed to name the striker in his squad that played a 1-1 friendly game against Senegal in March.

Rohr later confirmed that he has the striker in mind and is reportedly ready to include Odey in his squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (qualifiers) against South Africa on Saturday, June 10.
