Keshi and Amodu who were Super Eagles coaches several times in their careers, died in 2016.

At the 39th Ordinary Congress at the Nelson Mandela Hall of the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, the late Nigerian football legends were remembered with CAF Golden Order of Merit.

The CAF Golden Order of Merit is given to personalities who have contributed immensely to the game of football in Africa.

Keshi who led Nigeria to two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)title-one as a captain and the other as a coach- died on Wednesday, June 8 of from suspected cardiacarrest while Amodu died three days later on Saturday, June 11.

Keshi and Amodu were not the only Nigerians honoured at the congress as ex-Flying Eagles star Peter Ogaba also received a posthumous award.

Ogaba is famous for being the youngest Nigerian player at the FIFA U-20 World Cup hosted by Saudi Arabia in 1989 where Nigeria lost in the final to eventual winners, Portugal.

He was also the youngest player to feature at the FIFA Under 17 World Cup at Canada '87.

He died after a brief illness in August 2016.
