"Today is a historic moment for Formula 1. With Rwanda joining the calendar in the next decade, our sport will race across all inhabited continents, bringing the world championship closer to fans around the globe than ever before," said Domenicali.
"Africa has always been part of Formula 1's future. From the outset, we were determined to return to the continent the right way – with the right partner, a long-term commitment, and a clear vision to deliver a real, positive impact.
"I would like to thank His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, the Rwandan government, the Rwanda Development Board, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, and everyone whose dedication and collaboration made this possible. This is about far more than just hosting a Formula 1 race. Together, we can deliver lasting economic and social benefits through tourism, investment, skills development, and local business growth, ensuring the positive legacy of this event is felt for generations to come.
"For our fans, this is an extraordinarily exciting moment. Africa is home to over 100 million Formula 1 fans, and that number is growing rapidly. We are bringing the emotion, energy, and drama of Formula 1 to millions who have long awaited the sport's return to the continent. We look forward to writing a thrilling new chapter in Formula 1 history together," added the F1 boss.
