The Spanish Super Cup is the traditional season opener in Spain between the reigning La Liga and Copa del Rey champions.
This season’s clash is between Barcelona (La Liga winners) and Sevilla (runners-up in the Copa del Rey-In the event that a team wins both La Liga and the Copa del Rey, the runners-up of the Copa del Rey will play against the winner of La Liga).
The 2018 Spanish Super Cup will be played on Sunday, August 12.
It will also be the first time it will be decided with just one game. Until now, the Super Cup has always been played over two legs - one at each club's ground.
Barcelona who lost last year's Super Cup to Real Madrid after losing 5-1 on aggregate have the most titles in the history of the competition.
Barcelona have 12 Super Cup titles while Sevilla have just one.
