Slovan Bratislava's Nemesis Signs for Chelsea, Kazakh Supertalent Heads Out on Loan

Kazakh international footballer Dastan Satpayev will spend the 2026/2027 season on loan at Burnley. The eighteen-year-old forward recently completed his permanent transfer from Kairat Almaty to Chelsea, signing a contract until 2033.

Chelsea secured the talented player's signature back in February 2025, though the transfer could only be finalized once he turned 18. Over the summer, Satpayev joined the London club for their pre-season tour in Australia and Asia, even finding the net against Western Sydney Wanderers. He has since moved to Championship side Burnley on a season-long loan.

"I'm thrilled to be here. This is a huge opportunity in my career and a fantastic club where I can showcase my abilities and help the team return to where it belongs. It's my first time playing in England, and I'm ready for this next chapter," Satpayev told Burnley's official club website.

The Almaty native is a product of Kairat's academy, which he joined at the age of eight. He scored 27 goals in 63 appearances for senior teams in Kazakhstan. In March 2025, he became the youngest player in the history of the Kazakh national team and later the youngest Kazakh to feature in the Champions League. He boasts nine international caps and one goal. This information was reported by goal.com.

Match Against Slovan

Satpayev is not an unfamiliar name to Slovak football fans either. In August 2025, he played for Kairat in both legs of their Champions League third qualifying round tie against Slovan Bratislava.

In the opening match in Almaty, he took on immense responsibility in the dying moments. In the 90th minute, the then-sixteen-year-old stepped up to take a penalty, coolly converting it to secure a 1-0 victory for Kairat.

Slovan leveled the aggregate score with an identical result in the home leg, but after a goalless extra time, they were defeated in the penalty shootout. Kairat triumphed 4-3, eliminating the Slovak champions and subsequently progressing to the Champions League group stage.
