Sevilla roundup Tanzania trip with thrilling win over Simba SC
Sevilla FC rounded off their landmark LaLiga World SportPesa Challenge visit to Tanzania with a thrilling 5-4 win over local champions Simba SC.
Famous stars like Ever Banega, Nolito and Jesus Navas were in action at the National Stadium with around 35, 000 locals present to see Sevilla take on Tanzanian Premier League champions Simba SC.
Nolito and Dutch international Quincy Promes both scored twice, and Sergio Escudero got on the scoresheet for the visitors, while Bocco scored twice for Simba adding to strikes from Kagere and Chama.
“We knew it would be a tough game given that Simba SC are national champions and they gave us a great game. It’s been a great experience for the fans because it’s always a spectacle when there are so many goals,” Sevilla coach Joaquin Caparros said after the game.
“We were able to turn the game around in the second half and we wanted to win. It’s been a great experience,” Sevilla FC forward Quincy Promes said.
Sevilla who made the trip with a host of their first team stars that also include Wissam Ben Yedder and Munir El Haddadi are the first Spanish team to ever play a match in Tanzania.
The Sevilla took part in a number of activities, including a football clinic with youth players from local side Bom Bom at the National Stadium, a management seminar with local clubs and institutions and a cultural visit to the National Museum of Tanzania.
LaLiga World Challenge is a program created in 2014 by LaLiga with the support of the Spanish Government, the National Sports Council and the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade.
