Sérgio Conceição rejects Fenerbahçe to hold out for Europe's top leagues, reports suggest
Sérgio Conceição has rejected an offer to take charge of Fenerbahçe. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Portuguese manager thanked the Turkish giants for their interest but decided against moving to Turkish football, maintaining his preference to wait for an opportunity in one of Europe's top five leagues.
The Istanbul side approached Conceição in recent days looking for a successor to Ismail Kartal, who was dismissed following a derby defeat to Galatasaray. After considering the proposal, the former FC Porto boss opted to turn down the invitation.
Following a spell in Italy managing Milan during the 2024/25 campaign, the Portuguese tactician remains a free agent as he awaits his next challenge, with his sights set firmly on Europe's elite. Conceição's most recent post was with Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ittihad last season, leaving the club in June.
