A droid flew across the pitch carrying Albania’s flag with the word 'Autochthonous', referring to Serbia's alleged attempts to control Kosovo despite not being indigenous to the region.

Serbian players dragged the two-headed eagle flag, probably to destroy it, an attempt which was not well received by Albanian players who struggled to protect the flag from any harm

The flag bore the faces of two people; two Albanian heroes who fought for Kosovo’s independence, one on the left and the other on the right

On the left, is the face of is Ismail Qemal, founder of the Albanian national movement and first president of the Albanian state and on the right is a nationalist who fought against Serbia in the Albanian Revoltin Kosovo in and later in the World War I.

The war which is now nearly a hundred years was re-enacted at the Belgrade stadium in the Serbia’s capital on Tuesday night as players and fans from the two teams clashed with each other, just as other Albanian supporters at home matched in solidarity to the City’s square in Kosovo

Despite Albanian fans banned from attending the match, the players took to an uproar when Serbian defender Stefan Metrovic leaped up to pull the flag down with the drone flying it

This aggravated further tensions in the Albanian team who have seven Kosovo born players as part of them

Kosovo, inhabited by native Albanians declared independence in 2008 but Serbia refused to acknowledge the move and still pushing control over the province

The fracas led to English referee, Martin Atkinson interrupting the match in the 41st minute, then calling the players off after the fans invaded the pitch to attack the Albanian players

Immediately, riot policemen were called to the stadium to maintain calm and order after the fans lit flares, burning a NATO flag in the process, which may have been in response to the 78 day air-war in 1998 by NATO forces on Serbia, to stop it from further killing and expulsion of ethnic Albanians in Kosovo

euters reported that the stunt was allegedly started by Edi Rama, a brother to Albanian Prime Minister who was later arrested on suspicion of been behind the fracas and was found in possession of a remote which may have been used to control the droid that flew the flag onto the pitch
