Argentina's head coach Lionel Scaloni commented on the dramatic 3-2 victory over Egypt in the World Cup Round of 16. The South American squad had to mount a full comeback after trailing 0-2 until the 79th minute.
"The magnitude of what happened today is comparable to many of the great moments we've experienced with this team. The team never stops pushing forward," Scaloni stated after the match.
"I believe we controlled the initiative the entire time and created many chances. On the bench, I experience everything as intensely as you do," he added.
"I work as a coach precisely for moments like these. I discuss this with my staff. For all of us who have played football, reliving such emotions is incredible," the former defender admitted.
"Egypt is a very good team, but my feeling is that we held the initiative throughout the match. They only had two or three quick attacks," the specialist analyzed.
"If you have to lose, it's better to lose this way. There are different ways to lose, but this team always fights. I'm always emotional. To feel such emotions is incredible," Scaloni did not hide.
"Today was one of those tests that forge you. That's our team: when things go wrong, we give our absolute best. We had a feeling that at some point, we would get a chance and manage to turn the game around," the Argentine coach concluded.
