Nigerian singer Runtown turns 26-years-old today. The artist gained prominence in 2014 when he released ‘Gallardo' featuring Davido, but he's been around for a bit longer than you think.

1. His real name is Douglas Jack Agu.

2. He was raised in three different regions of Nigeria.

Runtown was born in Enugu state in eastern Nigeria. When his father fell ill and had to be admitted to Lagos Teaching University Hospital (LUTH), his family moved to Lagos. When his father died, his family relocated to the Nigerian capital, Abuja. And then back to Enugu in 2005.

3. He got into music in 2007.

He decided to follow his passion for music in 2007, but took it up professionally in 2010 when he recorded his debut single, ‘Party like it’s 1980’.

4. His musical talent developed in Lagos.

In 2007, he moved back to Lagos with Phyno. They were both mentored by J Martins and featured on a song from his second album titled 'Tonight'.

J martins introduced him to Timaya who hereafter showed him the ropes of the Nigerian music industry.

5. He signed to Eric Manny Entertainment in 2014.

Before this, he was with affiliated with Phyno's Penthauze Music/ Sputnet Records.

6. The 'Activity pikin' is set to work with DJ Khaled.

This won't be the first international collaboration from the singer. He worked with South African group Uhuru on his single ‘Banger’. American-Jamaican singer Laza Morgan featured him on a dancehall song titled ‘High on you’.

7. Prior to his dreams of become a professional singer, he had a vision of playing basketball professionally.

8. He is currently pursuing a fashion degree.

The artist is studying Fashion Management at the Fashion School of Technology in New York.
