Five of New Zealand's Rugby World Cup-winning heroes paid tribute to the late Jerry Collins on Thursday by taking the Webb Ellis Cup to the late All Black forward's grave.

Collins, a two-time World Cup squad member for New Zealand, was killed in a car crash in June this year.

World Rugby Player of the Year Dan Carter, World Cup final try-scorer Ma'a Nonu, Sonny Bill Williams, Jerome Kaino and Liam Messam paid tribute to Collins on the day after what would have been his 35th birthday.

Carter posted a picture on Instagram of the quintet with a 'happy birthday' balloon and the World Cup trophy at Collins' resting place with the caption: "Good to share this one with the brother. Love you JC."

Nonu added on Twitter: "Happy belated bday to our fallen uso [brother]. We love you JCterminator."
