Rivers United had lost one game and won the other before their third match of Group A.

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side were on Saturday beaten by KCCA by goals from Derrick Nsambi.

Nsambi opened scoring in the 15th minute before Bolaji Sarkin levelled for Rivers United.

Nsambi got the winner for KCC in the 75th minute to get all three points for the Ugandan side.

KCC are now second in Group A with six points while Rivers United are bottom with just three points. Rivers United have lost two games and won only one out of the three played so far.

They will be hoping for a top-two finish to qualify for the semifinal.

No Nigerian team has won the CAF Confederation Cup in its present format.
