Renault-Nissan has announced plans join the autonomous (self-driving cars) world.
Carbuzz reports that the automakers will launch 10 cars with self-driving abilities by 2020.
CEO and Renault-Alliance chairman, Carlos Ghosn, spoke on the joint venture's entry into this world.
"Renault-Nissan Alliance is deeply committed to the twin goals of ‘zero emissions and zero fatalities. That’s why we are developing autonomous driving and connectivity for mass-market, mainstream vehicles on three continents.
After Nissan came out with the first zero-emission car—the Nissan Leaf—the partnership has focused on safety and efficiency. For 2016, Renault-Nissan plans on introducing a number of vehicles that come with “single-lane control,” which will let the vehicles drive autonomously on highways and in stop-and-go traffic."
These cars will be released in Europe, Japan, China and the US.
Renault-Nissan is a joint venture between Nissan and Renault.
