Renault Group CEO François Provost has reaffirmed Alpine's commitment to Formula 1, firmly dismissing speculation that the team could be put up for sale.

Speaking during the press day at the Paris Motor Show, Provost highlighted Renault's unique position as the only French car manufacturer competing on the F1 grid.

"To get a full return on investment, our cars need to feature more frequently on TV broadcasts," Provost explained to BFM TV. "That is when the true value of our Formula 1 involvement is realised."
"Formula 1 remains one of the most popular sports in the world, and there is only one French brand in the championship – Alpine. That is also why one of our drivers is French. We are staying the course with this project, and Alpine will remain in Formula 1."
"It is clear that we are losing money through our F1 programme, which makes things difficult, but we have to aim higher," Provost added in a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, who attended the motor show's opening.

Provost's remarks will soon be tested when Alpine publishes its financial results for the past year. Since the introduction of F1's cost cap, team valuations have soared, and very few outfits operate at a deficit amid surging sponsorship revenues and strictly controlled, predictable spending.
