Red Bull Racing have announced that Team Principal Laurent Mekies has signed a new long-term contract extension, keeping him at the helm of the Formula 1 squad until at least the end of 2031.

Mekies took charge at Red Bull midway through the 2025 season following the departure of Christian Horner. Under the Frenchman's guidance, the team mounted an impressive resurgence last season, with Max Verstappen narrowly missing out on the drivers' championship by just two points to Lando Norris after a stunning second half of the campaign.

While the sport's new technical era initially presented challenges for Red Bull, the team steadily resolved several handling and drivability issues on the RB22. That progress culminated in back-to-back victories for Verstappen in Malaysia and Singapore, providing the perfect momentum for Mekies' new deal to be announced to the factory staff in Milton Keynes.

"I am exceptionally proud to continue this adventure with Red Bull Racing," Mekies commented regarding his contract extension. "I would like to thank Chalerm (Yoovidhya), Mark (Mateschitz), and Oliver (Mintzlaff), as well as the entire team and everyone involved, for their trust in this project. What makes our team so special is the way everyone unites in pursuit of a shared goal. It is a genuine privilege to work alongside such talented and dedicated people every single day.

"Together with the engineering and powertrain departments led by Pierre Waché and Ben Hodgkinson, who play a crucial role in shaping our future, we have built a solid foundation for the years ahead and firmly believe this is only the beginning. Looking forward, we will continue to stay true to the core values that define us as a team: freedom of thought, speed of execution, and bravery in decision-making."
