Red Bull has reportedly abandoned its 'Macarena' rear wing design, at least for the start of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend.
Footage from the Red Bull garage at Spa shows that both Max Verstappen's and Isack Hadjar's cars are fitted with an older version of the RB22's rear wing. This older design features a more conventional flap mechanism, similar to standard DRS systems.
This change comes in response to two incidents involving Verstappen in Austria and Great Britain. These issues were caused by a slow closing of the wing flap, which resulted in the Dutchman lacking the necessary downforce at the rear of his car.
These two incidents have compelled Red Bull to make the difficult decision to revert to the rear wing version they started the campaign with. The team has been utilizing their 'Macarena' variant since the Miami Grand Prix weekend.
