Cristiano Ronaldo voted greatest EPL player ahead of Thierry Henry, Ryan Giggs, Steven Gerrard
A recent Sky Sports poll for fans to vote who they believed is the best player to play in the English Premiership returned results placing Ronaldo ahead of many other known footballers.
The Real Madridstar who celebrates his 30th birthday on Thursday left Manchester United in 2009 after joining them in 2003, playing only six years under Sir Alex Ferguson; won three Premier League titles, a Champions League winners' medal and an FA Cup.
There he also won his World Footballer of the Year award in 2008, becoming one of the only recognizable EPL players to do so.
Often referred to as ‘’the new George Best’’ then, the 30 year-old beat Thierry Henry; United patrons, Ryan Giggs and Eric Cantona, Gianfranco Zola, Dennis Bergkamp, Steven Gerrard, Alan Shearer, Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira with of the votes cast; a 24 per cent share of the calculations.
Henry came second on , Giggs third with while Cantona is fourth with , closely followed there by the English Premiership record goal scorer, Alan Shearer on the same percent rate.
United and Arsenal legends, Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira come last on the poll with a mere 2% and 1% respectively.
