Rayo Vallecano have been handed a partial stadium closure and a €6,000 fine by the Spanish Football Federation's disciplinary committee after fan protests forced their weekend fixture against Athletic Bilbao to be abandoned.
Saturday's clash was halted after just 13 minutes when home supporters showered the pitch with paper planes and bouncy balls in a demonstration directed at club owner Raul Martin Presa.
La Liga has not yet announced a rescheduled date to complete the match, according to BTA.
The committee subsequently ruled that Rayo must shut the south stand for their next home game against Elche on October 24. The club has also been warned that any repeat of the unrest will result in a full stadium closure.
Supporter hostility toward Presa has escalated in recent months, fueled by deep-seated frustration over the ownership's neglect of the club's infrastructure.
Back in February, Rayo's first-team squad and coaching staff released a statement highlighting that both the training facilities and the home pitch fell well below standard. The Madrid regional government later issued a temporary ban on using the Vallecas stadium over safety concerns, forcing Rayo to play their first three La Liga home matches of the campaign at alternative venues.
