Rayo Edges Elche in Crucial Relegation Battle

Rayo Vallecano kicked off the 30th round of Spain's La Liga with a narrow 1-0 victory over Elche. This win was crucial for the Madrid side in their fight for survival, extending their lead to seven points over Mallorca, who currently sit in the relegation zone. Elche, meanwhile, is just one point above the islanders, who are set to host vice-champions Real Madrid this Saturday, April 4th.

The match was marred by numerous fouls, forcing referee Vallecas from Madrid to issue four cards in the first half alone. Pedro Bigas of the visiting team received two bookings, leaving Elche with ten men. The decisive moment came in the 74th minute when Randy Nteka of Rayo Vallecano scored the only goal of the game, securing three vital points for the capital club.
