Where are we headed?

“And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid.” [50:19]

Death is biology. There’s nothing evil about dying just the way there’s nothing evil about a tree withering. It’s all Biology.

What matters is in what state we die. What is amazing is that it is not how we lived our lives that makes most of the difference, but in what state we die.

It’s why the Prophet (SAW) said, “one of you may do the deeds of the people of Paradise until there is nothing between him and it but a cubit, then the decree overtakes him and he does a deed of the people of Hell and enters it. And one of you may do the deeds of the people of Hell until there is nothing between him and it but a cubit, then the decree overtakes him and he does a deed of the people of Paradise, and enters it.” [Bukhari 3208/Muslim 2643]

This is where we pray for Allah’s Mercy and Forgiveness.

When we live life knowing the next good might be our ticket to Jannah, or the next evil might be our ticket to the Fire, life begins to happen in moments and hence has more value.

May Allah make us the people of Paradise and forgive our shortcomings.
