Google have released their annual list of top 10 most searched sportsmen in Nigeria.
1. Pedro
Chelsea forward, Pedro is the most searched sports personality by Nigerians in 2015.
The forward's transfer from La Liga giants Barcelona to Premier League champions Chelsea is apparently the reason why he was heavily queried on the Google platform.
2. Arda Turan
Pedro's departure from Barcelona paved way for the arrival of Arda Turan who is second on the list. The Turkey international move from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona made so much news which put him on the list.
3. Anthony Martial
Months ago Anthony Martial was just another player in Monaco before his move to Manchester United. That move propelled the 20-year-old into world media and curious football fans wanted to know more about striker, Nigerians included.
4. Karim Benzema
Real Madrid and France international striker Karim Benzema had a very bad year. Apart from finishing the season with Real Madrid trophyless, Benzema was caught up in sex tape controversey. The striker was arrested for his involvement in an attempt to blackmail France international Mathieu Valbuena.
5. Petr Cech
Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech is the fifth most searched sports personality on Google by Nigerians. He made a move from his former side, Chelsea to their London rivals Arsenal in 2015.
6. Memphis Depay
Dutch international Memphis Depay makes the list following his move from PSV to Manchester United.
7. Gabriel Paulista
Brazil international defender became more popular when he made the move from VillarrealCF to Arsenal in January 2015.
He also earned a Brazil call-up after joining Arsenal.
8. Sergio Ramos
Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos was a subject of transfer speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United.
The speculation all summer meant that Ramos was frequently searched on Google by Nigerians.
9. Matteo Darmian
Just like the Anthony Martial, Darmain got world attention when he made the move from Torino to Manchester United.
10. Sunday Oliseh
Former Nigeria international Sunday Oliseh was named Super Eagles coach in 2015 after the sacking of Stephen Keshi. The appointment made the former Juventus midfielder a regular item in the news.
