The Nigerian Presidential election has just been concluded with former military leader, General Muhammadu Buhari declared winnner.
But during the campaign, sources in the Super Eagles camp have exclusively revealed to Pulsethat against the Cranes of Uganda and the Bafana Bafana of South Africa was asked to record a campaign video for President Goodluck Jonathan which they refused.
Senior players in the squad like captain Vincent Enyeama and Ogenyi Onazi on behalf of the rest of the players instantly turned down the offer insisting that they were serving the whole country, not the political ambition of anybody.
Nigerian BBC Sports journalist Oluwashina Okeleji, also confirmed Pulse findings when he tweeted; "Respect to 2 @NGSuperEagles players. Pressured to record a video in support of the outgoing president. Both:We're #FootballersNOTPoliticians."
"Asking young boys to campaign & support a political party? So-called NFF official. Are they representing a party or the country? Shame on U!" he added.
Pulse have contacted the Nigerian football Federation for comments which has not been received as at the time of this report.
It undefinedlike Joseph Yobo, Kanu Nwankwo and Austin Jay Jay Okocha all endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan during the presidential campaigns.
