The work environment can be a very stressful area and can cause a lot of commotion, which is exactly what we don’t want. Now “how do we prevent this?” you ask.

Drop the gossipping

This point is for the gossips, storytellers and gist detectives. Una know yourselves! What do you gain from talking about people behind their backs, spreading irrelevant information and constantly snooping around? Nothing! You honestly look pitiful and lose your self-respect.

If it has reached the point where your co-workers seek you for the latest alerts and gist, please help yourself. It’s an unattractive look. If you have time to gossip, it means you have too much time on your hands.

No blackmailing

It’s understandable that the workplace can be a very competitive environment, but that doesn’t mean you have to set other people up for failure. If you make a mistake, own up to it and don’t try to put the blame on someone else or make it to be as a result of others. Take up your responsibility, own your errors and face reality.

Also, keep all personal matters away from the workforce to be safe and control your emotions. Whatever happens behind closed doors shouldn’t reflect on your work and/or used against someone else.

Focus on your goals and objectives

When in the workplace, you should only focus on putting your best foot forward to achieve common goals and objectives. Stay away from distractions and silly matters that can be settled elsewhere. Be cautious of the people you talk to and what you discuss with them.

Be attentive

Just because you choose not to gossip, blackmail or blabber in the workplace doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t shine your eyes oh! Shine them well well! You need to be aware of your type of environment, people in it and what you’re your end goal is.

Lower your expectations

People can be very conniving and ruthless in the workplace. Don’t expect anyone to always be at your service when you need assistance. Adopt the behavior of picking up skills quickly or learning how to do things by yourself. When need be, you can rely on others for aid. Some people view the workplace as a battle ground and can be quick to steer you in the wrong direction or find you as a nuisance.
