European club champions Paris Saint-Germain have made their first summer transfer move, securing one of AC Milan's most promising academy talents. Goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni joins the French giants as a free agent, signing a five-year deal.
Manchester United had also shown significant interest in the 18-year-old Italian. However, Longoni opted for PSG's offer after declining to extend his expired contract with his boyhood club. Last season, Longoni primarily featured for Milan's Primavera squad, making 38 appearances, conceding 45 goals, and keeping 7 clean sheets. He is also an Italy U18 international and was part of the Azzurri squad that won the U17 European Championship in 2024. The young goalkeeper is now expected to be PSG's third-choice in goal, following today's loan move of Renato Marin to Portuguese side Nacional.
This transfer by PSG bears a striking resemblance to the acquisition of Gianluigi Donnarumma in the summer of 2021. The Italian shot-stopper also left AC Milan as a free agent to join the Parc des Princes outfit, a move that earned him the ire of the Rossoneri faithful.
