The organization announced Thursday that a welterweight clash between Yaroslav Amosov and Joel Alvarez has been scheduled for the May 9 event at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Amosov, a former Bellator Welterweight Champion, made a successful Octagon debut at UFC Vegas 112 in December, submitting Neil Magny in the first round with an impressive choke. This marks Amosov's second consecutive victory since his sole professional MMA loss to Jason Jackson, which saw him drop the Bellator 170-pound title in November 2023. The 32-year-old boasts an impressive record of 29 wins in 30 professional bouts.

Alvarez will be making his second consecutive appearance in the welterweight division. In his last outing, he secured a dominant unanimous decision victory over Vicente Luque at UFC Rio last October. Prior to that, Alvarez notched three consecutive finishes in the lightweight division against Drakkar Klose, Elves Brenner, and Marc Diakiese.

The main event of UFC 328 features a middleweight title fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland.
