Hidemasa Morita bid an emotional farewell to Alvalade, visibly tearing up when substituted during the match against Gil Vicente. This came after he reportedly turned down contract renewal offers, primarily driven by the Japanese international's ambition to fulfill his dream of playing in the Premier League.

However, according to sources close to A BOLA, this aspiration appears to be a distant prospect for now, as the player has yet to receive any concrete approaches from British clubs.

Leeds United had shown the most significant interest in the 31-year-old midfielder, viewing him as a potential free-agent opportunity. Nevertheless, manager Daniel Farke has since re-evaluated his priorities due to an abundance of midfield options. Elland Road's focus has now shifted to securing a goalkeeper, a striker, and a left-back.

Therefore, unless there's a significant shift in the transfer market – a common occurrence at this time of year – the most likely outcome is a move to France. Clubs such as Marseille, Monaco, and Lyon, managed by Paulo Fonseca, have already expressed interest in acquiring his services.

During his four seasons with Sporting, the former number 5 made 166 appearances and scored 11 goals. He was a consistent fixture under Ruben Amorim, João Pereira, and Rui Borges, with his playing time only interrupted by occasional muscle injuries.
