Rossi's Exclusion From The Azurre, A Big Mistake
The grandfather of the American-Italian born striker has labelled Italy's coach a 'traitor' questioning why his grandson had to be excluded from the team.
Rossi had been down with injury for five months before making a final recovery just in time to be fit for the World Cup and was indeed looking forward to playing alongside his teammates at the fiesta having been enlisted in the coach's provisional 30 man list. He was dressed in the international friendly against Republic of Ireland last week Saturday.
Prandelli sparked an aggressive comment from the 27 year-old's grandfather who insisted that the coach's claim of Rossi being injured leading to the exclusion is unfair and in his words, a 'farce.'
Bruno Petrocelli said to an Italian radio: ''Two days ago Prandelli said many fine words, then 48 hours later he changed his mind.
Petrocelli has withdrawn his support for the Prandelli led Azurre team and instead rooting for the USA, another part of 27 year-old Rossi.
''I will not be rooting for Italy, in that there are national traitors. I'll be cheering for the USA,'' Petrocelli confirmed.
Italian manager Prandelli claims that he dropped Rossi because he is 'unfit,' but the players grandfather has debunked the claim with the emphasis that ''It's [Prandelli] not good enough to judge my grandson and there's nothing more I can say. I know that my grandson's fit and he has a medical certificate to prove it.''
Guiseppe Rossi also challenged the exclusion based on his fitness and he went to his twitter handle to show his dissatisfaction.
Rossi is saddened about his exclusion from Brazil, however, the player is not new to denial. In 2010, he was sidelined out of the team by Marcelo Lippi then again by current coach Prandelli in the Euro 2012 tournament: He made his debut for Italy in 2008.
