In an interview with Spanish media outlet "Cope," US coach Mauricio Pochettino admitted he has received an offer to extend his contract and is currently weighing his future after the team's elimination in the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup.
The specialist was also asked to share his thoughts two days before the final between his native Argentina and Spain. According to Pochettino, the chances are perfectly even.
"For me, there's no favorite. This is the best possible match, one of the most important in history. Argentina elevated their game as they faced stronger opponents, and the exact same happened with Spain," Pochettino stated.
The coach confirmed he received a four-year extension offer until after the next World Cup in 2030, as reported by American media. The new contract would also cover the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and the Copa América in the same year.
"Look, we are at this stage. We are observing. We are analyzing. I received an offer to continue, and we will see... We will make a decision in the coming weeks," Pochettino responded.
Meanwhile, the match between Spain and Argentina will take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This game, along with all 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup, can be watched live on bnt.sportal.bg.
