Pedro Porro told Sport TV that Spain's victory over Portugal "came down to the details." He stated, "We knew Portugal has great players, and it was a game of fine margins. In the final minutes, both teams were under pressure, but the game swung our way, and I'm very happy with the team's win." He then outlined the differences between this match and last season's Nations League final.

"The Nations League final was also decided by details, by penalties, but today was a fantastic team effort from all of us. On my side, I had exchanges with Leão, João Félix, Nuno Mendes, and Vitinha. I'm also very pleased that we kept a clean sheet," he added.

Finally, when challenged to send a message to Sporting fans, where he left his mark as a player, Porro said, "I send a hug to the Sporting supporters. I'm sure they're upset with me today, but I was very happy there."

"We needed to speed up in the final third"

Rodri was named Man of the Match, but insisted that the award wasn't the "important thing." He told DAZN, "What matters is the team's performance, the way we fought. We interpreted the game well; they are an offensive team but defend very effectively. The only play of the game where we managed to play through the middle resulted in the goal, and I'm very proud."

The winner of the 2024 Ballon d'Or also spoke about his on-field discussions with teammates: "I kept telling them we needed to accelerate in the final third; in that area, we were taking an extra touch. In that space, we have players who can turn quickly and effectively, and we needed to capitalize on that."
