“The belt is the goal; I want the next fight to be for the title.”
Just four days after his impressive victory at the BRAVE 107 fight gala, Pavel Vladev was a guest once again on "Sportal Fight Club". The fighter, known as "The Wolverine," made good on his promise to knock out his opponent, Mohamed Kher Ahmed, doing exactly that in the very first round of their bout at "Arena Burgas." With a classic boxing combination of a left hook and a straight right, the Burgas native sent his opponent to the canvas, bringing the crowd to its feet. Another ground strike led to the fight's stoppage, and the home crowd erupted in ecstasy.
“I wanted to play a bit longer. I was hoping my opponent would last until the end of the round, and we could fight for at least 3-4 minutes,” Vladev shared.
The victory marked the 10th win in 11 professional MMA fights for the 35-year-old athlete. Speaking to our editor, Boris Tonev, The Wolverine revealed that he has already returned to training and is preparing for his next fight, which could happen very soon.
“Discussions are underway. I expect to step into the cage again soon. I have plans that, if they materialize, will put me at the highest level. This is something that could happen very quickly. That's why I haven't slowed down and am training hard.”
The knockout artist from the Black Sea coast shared that despite the tension before the fight with Mohamed Kher Ahmed and the relentless strikes during the duel, there is now no animosity between the two.
“The morning after the fight, I went to look for my opponent to see how he was. I don't know by what irony of fate, but it turned out he was in the room directly opposite mine at the hotel. Until that moment, I hadn't seen him near my room even once. We chatted in the hotel lobby, and we even took a photo together. I hold no ill feelings towards him. Before and during the fight, my opponent is a target, and I want to give it my all against him. After the fight, there are no issues. We remain fighters, and I believe we should have the integrity to respect all opponents. I said it at the weigh-in – I respect everyone who steps into the cage with me.”
