Partizan misses out on another potential reinforcement! Former Golden State player on the verge of Real Madrid move
Lester Quiñones has reportedly garnered significant interest from several EuroLeague teams, including Partizan, but according to information emerging from Spain, the Dominican Republic international is on the verge of joining Real Madrid.
Media outlets in Spain claim that Partizan was actively pursuing the 25-year-old guard, viewing him as the ideal replacement for Sterling Brown, who recently signed with Žalgiris. However, the Belgrade club wasn't the only suitor; Real Madrid quickly entered the fray with a concrete offer, and it's now expected that Quiñones will soon become a new player for the Royal club.
As a consolation for Partizan, they have at least secured the arrival of Ethan Thompson from the Indiana Pacers, another player who can fill the guard position.
Quiñones has played 54 NBA games, representing the Golden State Warriors, New Orleans Pelicans, and Philadelphia 76ers. However, he made a more significant impact in the G League, where in the 2022/23 season, playing for the Golden State affiliate, he averaged 20.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and nearly four assists, with a 37.7% three-point shooting percentage.
His G League performance consistently improved, regularly averaging over 20 points per game in recent seasons. He saw his most significant NBA minutes in the 2024/25 season with the New Orleans Pelicans, averaging 18 minutes on court, contributing 8.6 points and 2.6 assists per game.
Despite his efforts, he couldn't secure a more prominent role in the NBA, and it now appears to be the right time for a move to the EuroLeague.
