Ezuruike Roland, Nwosu Ndidi and Josephine Orji all won gold for Nigeria in powerlifting events.

The triumphant trio was hosted at the state house in Owerri on Thursday, September 22.

At the ceremony, the governor announced a cash gift of N1m and a brand new car each for the trio.

Their coaches were also given a car each.

In another related news, each member of Team Nigeria to the Paralympics will be getting the sum of N50, 000 for their participation in the Games.

Team Nigeria were impressive at the Paralympic Games, winning 12 medals- 8 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze- to finish 17th in the medals table, the top-ranked African country.

To reward the athletes, members of the House of Representatives have resolved to donate the sum of N50 000 each to Team Nigeria athletes.

Members of Nigeria’s Lower Legislative Chamber have also agreed to host the athletes in a proper ceremony in a yet-to-be-announced date.

Ayo Omidiran sponsored the motion which promoted the house to take a donation that totals N18M.

Omidiran said the donations are to support and encourage the special athletes who have made Nigeria proud.
