The four-time champion is reportedly exploring options outside his current team and could depart at the end of the season if he chooses to activate a break clause, the conditions for which have already been met.

With no available seats at Mercedes or Ferrari for Verstappen, McLaren remains the only other realistic team he could potentially join. Rumors surfaced during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend that Verstappen's camp had initiated discussions with McLaren regarding a possible driver slot.

CEO Zak Brown has consistently stated that while he respects Verstappen's talent and potential contribution, he is content with his current driver lineup of Lando Norris and Piastri. Nevertheless, Piastri continued to be linked with making way should Verstappen arrive. His manager, Mark Webber, dismissed these claims last week, asserting that nothing had changed and the Australian would remain Norris's teammate.

Speaking ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, where he is the defending race winner, Piastri effectively ended speculation about Verstappen taking his spot with a one-word answer.

"Yes," Piastri replied when directly asked by the media if he would be racing for McLaren in 2027. "I didn't realize it was a contentious issue. Obviously, I've seen and heard some of the rumors, but I feel very comfortable with my position and where I am. Zak and Andrea have been great throughout, and very reassuring to me. "Clearly, Max isn't feeling in a great position right now and is exploring his options. It was the same last year with him and Mercedes, so it's nothing new, but I'm very happy with where I am and where things are going. "I'm not particularly worried. It's important for people to know how things stand, what the market situation is, and any information you can get is useful. "So I trust the team here, the things I've been told, and the faith they have in me. That's all that really matters to me," he added.
