Max Verstappen claimed victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix, staged at Sepang in Malaysia, to secure a race win in an 11th consecutive Formula 1 season.

The four-time world champion became just the third driver in history to achieve the feat, with only seven-time world champions Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton ahead of him. Both drivers took victories across 15 consecutive campaigns, with Schumacher's streak running from 1992 to 2006 and Hamilton's from 2007 to 2021.

Verstappen claimed his maiden Grand Prix victory in Spain in 2016 and has won at least one race in every season since. With his win near Kuala Lumpur, the Dutchman moved clear of Alain Prost, who put together a ten-season winning run between 1981 and 1990.

Verstappen recently extended his contract with Red Bull until the end of 2030, giving him the theoretical opportunity to equal Schumacher and Hamilton if he wins at least one race in each of the next four seasons of his confirmed Formula 1 career.
