Olympiacos Makes Its Move: EuroLeague Champions to Play in Bitter Rival's Home Next Season!
This arena is typically home to AEK, but Olympiacos will utilize it for both EuroLeague and Greek League matches. A delegation from the Piraeus Reds has already inspected the venue, confirming its facilities are suitable for EuroLeague play. This decision puts an end to months of speculation regarding where the reigning EuroLeague champions would compete.
Belgrade was previously mentioned as a potential option, but those discussions ultimately led nowhere. It's worth noting that Maccabi Tel Aviv has played in the Serbian capital for the past three years due to the geopolitical situation.
However, official confirmation from the clubs has yet to be released. Greek media reports indicate that AEK has, for now, issued temporary consent, which Olympiacos needs to secure its license. The duration of the lease and other terms are expected to be finalized later. The arena boasts a capacity of approximately 9,000 seats. It originally opened in 2001 and underwent renovations last year, with an investment of around 84 million euros.
