Etebo joins Stoke City just days before Nigeria take on Croatia in their group opener of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of the 2017/18 season on loan at Spanish side .

The Super Eagles midfielder moved to the Potters for €7.2million, and is expected to join up with his new teammates after the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Tony Scholes Chief Executive of Stoke City was delighted with the capture of the Nigerian international.

He said, “We are delighted Etebo has chosen to join Stoke City, becoming our first signing of the summer.

“I’m particularly pleased that he took the time to look beyond our current league status and understand who we are as a club before choosing us ahead of current Premier League and Bundesliga clubs.”

Etebo who got relegated from the previously played for Warri Wolves in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

He was part of the U-23 team that won a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games and has made a total of 14 appearances for the Super Eagles contributing one goal.
