Monaco has officially announced the mutual termination of midfielder Paul Pogba's contract. The agreement between the two parties was set for another year, but the club decided they would no longer rely on the former French international.

Pogba joined Monaco at the start of last summer, having served an 18-month ban for a positive doping test. However, the 33-year-old needed considerable time to regain his physical fitness, making his debut for the Monegasques only in November. Shortly after, he was sidelined by an injury, resulting in just 115 minutes of play across 6 matches for the entire season. This led to his premature departure from the club, with Major League Soccer likely his next destination, as several teams there have shown interest in the former Juventus and Manchester United star.

Despite the separation, Pogba affirmed that he leaves Monaco with positive feelings. “I want to thank the president, the management, my teammates, all the staff, and all the fans who believed in me. Representing this club and the Principality was an incredible experience. Monaco is an exceptional club, and although I didn't play as many matches as I had hoped, I will always be grateful for the opportunity to wear its colors. Go Monaco,” he stated on the club's website.

General Director Thiago Scuro spoke highly of the departing Pogba. “On behalf of the club, I simply want to thank Paul. We are very happy that we embarked on this journey together. Upon his arrival, we explained that this was a big, bold, and ambitious challenge. Frankly, the outcome isn't what we had hoped for, but that shouldn't overshadow the enthusiasm of his arrival at the club, nor the fact that Paul rediscovered his form and professional football during this period. What Paul brought to the locker room, especially to the younger players, with whom he constantly shared his rich experience and advice, was invaluable. His attitude was exemplary, demonstrating the qualities of a great champion, which he is. We wish Paul all the best for the future,” commented the club executive.
