It's now official: Moisés Caicedo has extended his contract with Chelsea until 2033, expressing his delight at committing his long-term future to the London club. "You can't imagine how happy I am right now," stated the Ecuadorian midfielder.
Since his arrival at Stamford Bridge in August 2023 from Brighton, Caicedo has become a pivotal figure in the squad. With 140 appearances for the Blues, the Ecuadorian international has proven to be a reliable and crucial presence in midfield, even donning the captain's armband on occasion.
"I'm over the moon to sign a new contract because it's a dream to be here," he confessed to the club. "I'm very happy with these fantastic years I've already spent here and with what's to come. Together, we will bring more trophies to this club, which deserves everything, and that's why we are working hard, and I am working hard, to win those trophies," he added.
The midfielder also pledged his full dedication to the fans: "I'm going to give everything for this club. Every day I learn something, and I will try to be better every week because I want to give everything to the fans who come to the stadium to watch us." When asked about manager Liam Rosenior's praise, he responded: "When people talk about me like that, it's special. I try to take those words and show it on the pitch. That motivates me even more," he said, adding that mistakes make him stronger. "I think the sky's the limit for me, to be honest," he declared.
"It means a lot. Being here was a dream for me; I always prayed for these moments. Now I'm enjoying them because it's very special for my family in Ecuador and for me. For sure, we will give everything to win a trophy [the FA Cup] this season and do even better next season," he concluded.
