Arsenal announced on Friday afternoon the signing of Ezri Konsa, the English centre-back previously with Aston Villa. The England international's move cost the Gunners £51 million, approximately €59.6 million.
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's manager, gains another defensive option with the arrival of the 28-year-old, joining a roster that already includes Gabriel, Saliba, Hincapié, Calafiori, Ben White, Jurrien Timber, and Lewis-Skelly. Konsa will wear the number 15 shirt for the Gunners.
This transfer marks the end of Konsa's seven-season tenure at Aston Villa. The English defender made 294 appearances for the Birmingham club, with whom he won the UEFA Europa League last season.
Villa had already attempted to sign Southampton's Harwood-Bellis as Konsa's replacement, but their initial bid for the player, who was also a target for Benfica this summer, was rejected.
