Nottingham Forest has announced the appointment of Oliver Glasner as their new head coach, succeeding Vítor Pereira. The Austrian tactician becomes the fifth manager to take charge of the team in less than a year.

Glasner arrives at Nottingham following a highly successful spell at Crystal Palace, where he guided them to an FA Cup triumph in 2025 – the club's first major trophy – and, more recently, the Conference League title in May.

This change comes after the departure of Vítor Pereira, who was informed late on Wednesday night, close to the contract termination deadline, that his services were no longer required. The Portuguese coach, appointed in February, had successfully secured Forest's Premier League status.

"One of Europe's most respected and innovative coaches, Glasner joins Forest with a reputation for excellence in player development, building ambitious and attacking teams, and winning titles at the highest level. His leadership, tactical acumen, and winning mentality make him the ideal choice to lead the club into this new phase. Glasner arrives at Nottingham Forest having become only the third manager to win both the Europa League and the UEFA Conference League," the club stated.

"I am very pleased to join Nottingham Forest as head coach. From my initial conversations with the owner and the board, it became clear to me that there is a clear vision for this club and complete trust in me and my coaching staff to build a solid long-term future together. This trust and shared commitment, combined with the potential I see in the squad, were decisive factors in accepting this challenge, and I am excited about what we can achieve together," Glasner commented.

Club owner Evangelos Marinakis summarized: "In our discussions with Oliver, it became clear that we share the same vision, ambition, and relentless desire to win. Throughout his career, he has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to build excellent teams and achieve success against the strongest opponents. Our goal has always been to restore Nottingham Forest to its rightful place among the great clubs of England and Europe. Our ambition is not just to compete; it is to win, to challenge for major titles, and to build a club that our fans can be proud of for many years to come. Oliver is a winner. He has achieved success through his leadership, his personality, and the style of football his teams play. We believe he is the right person to lead this new chapter, and it is with great pleasure that we welcome him to the club."
