Official Announcement Awaited! Zvezda Secures First Major Signing at Mali Kalemegdan
According to Mozzart Sport, veteran guard Chris Jones is set to become Crvena Zvezda's newest acquisition. The American, who also holds Armenian citizenship, has reportedly agreed to a 1+1 year deal (with the second year being a player option), a move that will significantly bolster the Belgrade club's backcourt.
Jones, previously a key player for Hapoel Tel Aviv, carefully considered multiple offers. While he had the option to remain in Israel and attracted interest from other EuroLeague teams, the vision presented by the new Crvena Zvezda ultimately swayed his decision.
Miloš Teodosić, in his new role as sporting director, played a pivotal part in securing this transfer. It appears the legendary playmaker's charisma and authority were the decisive factors in convincing Jones to choose Belgrade.
Chris Jones's Impact: The experienced 31-year-old guard brings significant EuroLeague pedigree, having played for ASVEL, Maccabi, and Valencia. He is known for his excellent playmaking, composure in clutch situations, and strong defensive presence.
Dejan Davidovac recently extended his contract, reaffirming his commitment to the club. Chris Jones arrives as the first major backcourt signing, with Ibon Navarro expected to follow. The Spanish coach is anticipated to be officially unveiled as the new head coach soon.
