Watford’s captain Troy Deeney has revealed that he and his teammates are not going to let Ighalo forget about the miss.
“I thought we were the better team in the first and I had a header, Iggy missed an open goal which we are not going to let him forget any time soon,” the Watford captain said after the game.
Deeney was excited for the win and also generally impressed with Watford’s start to the season.
“We’ve had the toughest start of any club this season and that’s seven points,” the captain added.
“That’s massive for a club like us. We’ll enjoy tonight. We’ve got some good quality [in our dressing room] and some real men in there. I thought we were the better team in the first and I had a header, Iggy missed an open goal which we are not going to let him forget any time soon.
“The biggest part of today was that we didn’t go under [when it went 1-1] and went onto win the game 3-1. We pressed them really well, sat in when we needed to, condensed the space and were tough in the tackle. They have got high-quality players and we needed to dig in and rough them up.”
Watford travel to Burnley for their next Premier League game.
