Super Eagles and Seattle Sounders striker Obafemi Martins has been nominated for the 2015 ESPYs after a fantastic season with the MLS club.

The former Inter Milan striker finished as the MVP runner-up, and has scored 17 goals and 13 assists in just his second season in MLS.

He helped lead the Sounders to the US Open Cup title, Supporters’ Shield and Western Conference Championship series, where they lost to the Galaxy.

The Super Eagles striker has been nominated in the 'MLS Player' category alongside the likes of New York Red Bulls forward Bradley Wright-Phillips, who last year led the league with 27 goals, New England Revolution player Lee Nguyen and LA Galaxy's Robbie Keane.

The annual  awards organised by ESPN will hold on Saturday, July 15.

The ESPYs which will also honour transgender and former Olympic athlete, Caitlyn Jenner will be hosted by comedian Joel McHal.
