Nigerian and Seattle Sounders striker, Obafemi Martins has been voted as the MLS Best Player of the Week .

The Super Eagles striker was named as the best player of the week nine North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) as he scored two and created one goal in the Sounders 3-1 win over New York City FC.

Martins opened scoring in the 23rd minute as he got on Marco Pappa’s throughball to hit a shot past goalkeeper Josh Saunders.

He set up Clint Dempsey for Sounders' second  before adding a third.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
