Rangers, Sunshine Stars to play behind-closed-doors

Rangers and Sunshine Stars have been given 48 hours to appeal these sanctions.

League Management Company (LMC) who are the Organisers of the NPFL announced several sanctions on Rangers and Sunshine Stars for incidences that happened in their respective home Match 20 fixtures.

Rangers hosted Gombe United while Sunshine Stars played Lobi Stars.

Supporters of the two clubs were found to have thrown objects into the field of play, encroached into onto the field of play as the club officials were not able to ensure adequate security.

Rangers have been ordered to play their next two home games behind closed doors and fine fined a total of N6.5m (including N3m for disruption of video coverage of the match) and a suspended three points’ deduction.

Sunshine Stars were fined a total of N5m (including N1M compensation to the match officials who were assaulted) a suspended three points’ deduction and indefinite stadium closure to fans.

Sunshine Stars have also been ordered to find and apprehend some specific fans who assaulted match officials.

They were given seven days to do this.
