In the match, Rangers’ strike, Bobby Clement, scored the brace of the match through a cross from his team mates at the 36th minute, while Clement’s second goal came at the 49th minute through a shot.
The visiting team, however, missed the opportunity to equalise at the first half of the match by losing a penalty kick at the 40th minute.
Rangers’ coach, Amapakabo Imama, told (NAN) that he was happy for the clean win and optimal performance of the players.
He said “notwithstanding the discouraging weather, our players displayed a winning mentality and character.
“They played to the game-plan of the match and I will work hard to ensure we hold-on to this winning mentality in the rest of the remaining two games we have in the league.”
The Team Manager of Sunshine Stars FC, Yomi Ogunlade, said that luck was against his team as his players had put up a brilliant performance against Rangers.
He said “the match was 50-50 by the statistics we have; but luck was not just on our side today.”
According to the NAN more than 20,000 football fans who watched the match on a free-ticket courtesy of Gov. Ifeanyi Uguwanyi of Enugu State defied a downpour to watch the match.
