Katsina United defeated Akwa United through two first half goals, the opener scored by Martins Usule in the eight minute.
While Destiny Ashadi scored a screamer in the 34th minute, which turned out to be the winner, as Katsina held on.
The win for Katsina United lifts them to sixth just ahead of Yobe Desert and Niger Tornadoes on goal difference, while Akwa remain second, but with a game less than table topping Lobi Stars.

Reigning champions Plateau United also closed the gap at the top of the table as they defeated Yobe Desert Stars 2-1 in a rescheduled fixture.
