No More Major Upgrades for Red Bull in 2026

Laurent Mekies has confirmed that Red Bull will not introduce any further major upgrades to the RB22 this season, though that does not mean the team will back down in their push up the standings.

Following Max Verstappen's back-to-back victories in Malaysia and Singapore, the Milton Keynes-based outfit has closed the gap to McLaren to just seven points in the battle for third place in the Constructors' Championship. Despite the narrow margin, Red Bull will halt any major developments on their current car, shifting the bulk of their focus toward their 2027 challenger.

"There won't be any more significant upgrades to the car. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean we won't be pushing hard to improve. We will keep doing that and use the remaining races of the season to learn for next year. "We told ourselves our goal was that first win, but after that, not to stop learning. Our development programme won't change. We still believe we have a lot to learn in 2026 to apply to 2027," said Mekies, who praised Red Bull's technical department for their massive progress since the start of the 2026 season. "I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Pierre's [Waché] team and Ben's [Hodgkinson] team for the work they've done to put us back in a position where we can win across different circuits. As I said, even on a weekend where we took two pole positions and two wins (Singapore Grand Prix), we remained honest with ourselves, knowing there are still things we want to do better, even on weekends like that. That's the team spirit, and that's how we'll approach the upcoming races," concluded the team principal, who signed a new contract with Red Bull earlier this week.
